| £2000 Bangers for Cash discount at Pentagon Vauxhall |
May 2009 |
The £2,000 Scrappage discount is now available across Vauxhalls full range of brand new cars and commercial vehicles and there are some great savings while stocks last.
Buyers who plump for the British-built Astra Life 1.4 hatchback will receive a £3,870 ‘Scrap and Save’ discount in addition to the £2,000 scrappage discount, reducing the price to £8,995 – a total saving of £5,870 off the recommended retail price.
Other Vauxhall models have also combined existing offers with the scrappage discount to make some of the most tempting new car buys on the market. All Zafiras, Merivas and Tigras benefit from the ‘You Pay, We Pay’ cash back offer which includes 4 years zero percent finance, while the Corsa range retains nought per cent finance for three years on all its models. For extra peace of mind, all buyers who finance their purchase through GMAC receive free redundancy cover.
And for those buyers who thought that a new Vauxhall was just out of reach, the great news is that the recently launched Agila range now starts at £6,995 for the generously equipped Club 1.0i ecoFLEX model, after participating dealers apply a special £2,430 ‘Scrap and Save’ discount, which includes the regular £2,000 scrappage discount .
Best of all, for those buyers who take up the scrappage scheme, Vauxhall retailers will be happy to handle all the paperwork for them, including the arrangements for their old car to be scrapped.

| Vauxhall Offers More Low Emission Models |
April 2009 |
The current financial situation means that drivers are scrutinising costs even more closely than usual, with concerns including high fuel prices and increasing environmental pressures. With this in mind, Vauxhall is offering customers more choice than any other manufacturer to reduce their environmental impact, with more than 366 model variants to choose from with carbon dioxide emissions of less than 160g/km.
With Vauxhall’s huge range of low emissions models, there’s never been so much choice for customers wanting to go green.
Astra ecoFLEX
The Astra ecoFLEX is already available from GM UK Fleet, in a range of trim levels, including the Life (air conditioned), Club, SXi and Design variants across the Astra Estate, Sports Hatch and 5-door hatch range.
The Astra ecoFLEX’s 1.7CDTi 16v 110PS common rail turbo diesel engine is coupled to a 6-speed transmission and has a diesel particulate filter to reduce its emissions.
All models across the Astra ecoFLEX range emit just 119g/km CO2, meaning they fall within the lowest, 13 per cent diesel band for Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax. Cost efficiency is also improved, as the ecoFLEX models achieve fuel economy of 62.8mpg on the Combined cycle.
Corsa and Agila
The Corsa and Agila models are also available in the ecoFLEX range and again are in the lowest 13 per cent diesel band for BiK, with the Agila 1.0i 12v model falling into the lowest 10 per cent petrol tax band.
The Corsa SXi and Design models are now available with a 1.3CDTi 16v (75PS) engine (119g/km) supplementing the existing Life and Club ecoFLEX models, and the ecoFLEX badge will now feature on the Agila 1.3CDTi 16v diesel (120g/km) and 1.0i 12v petrol models (120g/km).
New Insignia ecoFLEX
Joining the ecoFLEX range in summer 2009 will be the new Insignia, European Car of the Year 2009. Retaining the performance of the standard 2.0CDTi model and producing the same 160PS, the Insignia will see a drop in emissions to less than 140g/km – down from 154g/km for the regular model.
The Insignia ecoFLEX will still be capable of 0-62mph in 9.5 seconds with an overboost function that increases torque from 350Nm to 380Nm for up to 15 seconds.
In addition, the Insignia’s drag coefficient has been reduced to just 0.26Cd and low rolling resistance tyres are fitted.

| New Insignia VXR Coming Soon |
April 2009 |
Packing 325 horsepower, a sophisticated four-wheel-drive chassis and a sub-six second 0-60 time, Vauxhall’s new Insignia VXR is set to take the mid-size performance saloon market by storm when it goes on sale early this summer, with a level of dynamic prowess which aims to raise the bar in its class.
Based on the successful 2009 European Car of the Year, and available in hatch, saloon and Sports Tourer body styles, the high-performance Insignia will be Vauxhall’s first VXR model to adopt 4X4 technology, using a bespoke chassis developed through an extensive test programme at the gruelling Nurburgring circuit in Germany.
Highlights are a ‘HiPerStrut’ (High Performance Strut) front suspension system, Adaptive 4X4 with electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD) and a 10 millimetre reduction in ride height over the Insignia SRi.
The HiPerStrut system is unique to the VXR and serves two primary functions: firstly, to reduce torque-steer, but also to maintain negative camber during cornering, thereby improving ultimate grip levels in wet or dry conditions.
Complementing these features are standard 19-inch alloy wheels (20-inch lightweight forged alloys are a cost option) with bespoke tyres, revised bushing and damper settings on both axles, and Brembo brakes with colour-keyed callipers and vented/cross-drilled discs.
‘The Insignia VXR is not just about absolute power, but a combination of usable performance and chassis sophistication which is the match of premium rivals, such as Audi’s new S4,’ said Andy Gilson, Vauxhall’s Marketing Director. ‘ In essence, it’s an ultra-fast performance saloon that will appeal to buyers who appreciate subtle yet distinctive styling, but who need to know that there’s real substance below the car’s metal.’
And substance the VXR has a-plenty. At the heart of the Insignia VXR is Vauxhall’s advanced 2.8-litre V6 Turbo ECOTEC engine, with its micro-alloy forged steel crank, classic 60-degree cylinder angle and die-cast alloy oil sump – all features found in many a race engine. Producing 325PS (65PS up on the Elite V6), the engine uses a single, twin-scroll turbocharger and variable valve control for quick throttle response, and accelerates from 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds, achieving an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
With a design inspired by the Vauxhall/Opel GTC, many of the Insignia VXR’s styling cues will be familiar to those who saw this groundbreaking concept at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. A deeper bumper, incorporating bold, twin mesh grilles either side of the main grille, dominates the front of the car, and at the rear, hatch and saloon models gain a rear spoiler, while all VXRs have a bespoke bumper moulding incorporating dual matt chrome exhausts.
This sporting theme continues in the Insignia VXR’s cabin. Recaro front seats, a new VXR steering wheel, VXR gearknob and unique mouldings are standard on all cars, along with different instrument graphics, VXR sill plates and a black headlining.
All VXRs are available with a colour palette comprising Arden Blue, Power Red, Carbon Flash Black, Silver Lake, Olympic White and Technical Grey.
Sitting at the top of the Insignia range, the new model will be an important addition to Vauxhall’s performance-bred VXR family, which already includes the Corsa VXR, Astra VXR and 431 horsepower VXR8.
Since its launch in 2004, the VXR brand has been underpinned by the immensely successful VX Racing team, which currently holds all three British Touring Car Championship titles – Drivers’, Manufacturers’ and Team – for the 2008 season.
